"My contact with art initiated 30 years ago. I was at home searching for something to do when I chanced upon a box of watercolors I had bought for my daughter. No sooner had I found them that I wet the paintbrush and began to mix colors and let them flow on paper. It was instinctive.
"As a child I was very fond of painting, so shapes and forms began to appear on the paper as if by magic. I had never had a desire to become an artist, but I was going through a period in my life in which I had a strong desire to express how I felt.
"I felt liberated the moment I perceived the beauty of creating over sentiment. I felt then, as I do now, an incomparably intense emotion. Therefore, I decided to dedicate my time to art.
"From watercolors I went to acrylics; then I tried watercolors on silk and finally unto jewelry. None of these techniques replaced the previous one – I see them as complementary. Watercolors on silk broke the mold and transformed my painting into something lighter. Jewelry surpassed the barriers of bi-dimensional artistry; it surpasses the limits set by the canvas.
"Like I always say, art heals in the sense that it helps one find oneself. To this day, each art form that I have found to express myself completes me."
