Born in Lima on April 7, 1959, Patricia Morey is a professional dancer and skilled jewelry designer. "My love for art became apparent at the age of eight," she says. "I've always felt the desire to create, but I didn't make that big decision right away. In fact, I once worked as secretary for the vice president of the nation, but as time went by, my artistic urges won.
"One day, out of the blue, I began playing with making my own jewelry. I felt ashamed to show it and tell people it came from my own inspiration, but eventually I finally wore one. It was so exciting when someone asked me to take it off and sell it to her! In this way, I began to craft more and more new designs and to sell my work."
Morey is enthusiastic about ability to combine colors and the details in her clothing. "When I travel or go shopping, if I'm going to buy a purse, for example, I don't need to take the shoes I'm going to wear it with to compare the colors. In the same way, if I'm going to buy a present for someone, I'll know the ideal color. That's why I never stop combining stones and creating contrasts. I love it! It fascinates me.
