Giovanna Guimoye

"I was born in Lima on September 25, 1969," Giovanna Guimoye says. "I always liked designing jewelry and clothing, and enjoyed wearing my own creations. In college, I majored in international commerce but I got married while I was very young and didn’t immediately pursue my career. In 1997, I took a course in jewelry making and I liked it so much that I decided to follow my passion for design. People really liked my jewelry and wanted to buy it, and this motivated me even more.

"I love to create new designs, and each piece evolves until I achieve just what I want. My ten-year-old daughter likes to help with design ideas, and together we create pieces for her young friends.

"I take great care with the finishing of each piece by hand. I want each one to be perfect. I'm thrilled to think that people in places I've never seen will wear my jewelry, and I hope they'll write to share their comments."
