Karin

"Hello to everyone all over the world by way of Novica. I'm very pleased to meet you. My name is Karin Ruenkeaw, but my family calls me Boom. I live with my family in northern Thailand. I am the last of three children, but my big brother died in July of 2004. He was a judge in a southern border province and was shot while he was driving his son to school. My mother and his three-year-old boy witnessed the murder. We are so sad that we will never have him with us again. At present, the rest of my family still lives together here in the north. I have my parents and my other brother's family. We are very close and supportive of one another. Although they work, my parents give me suggestions in everything, and we look after one another. My life concept is to do what is best for every member of the family.

"After I graduated from junior high, I was chosen to continue studying fine art for three years because I have loved art as long as I can remember. When I was a young boy, I was always drawing and used every spare minute for art. So I had decided to study fine art. But while in art school, I had new idea. I thought it might be very difficult to make a living in art so I chose to take a second diploma as well as a bachelor's degree in product and packaging design. I already have the art skills and I love to come up with new ideas so I can present my ideas quite well. I competed in a furniture design contest sponsored by the Department of Export Promotion and took first prize.

"After finishing my BA, I entered the military for a year, and then I went to work as a jewelry designer for four years. I am always designing jewelry in new styles. Personally, I love to design with a fashionable simplicity. I create silver accessories – necklaces, bracelets, anklets, rings, earrings, brooches and clips, all made by hand. My designs come from my imagination mixed with my customers' ideas and current fashion trends. I usually sketch my ideas on paper but sometimes I use computer software. In the future, I dream of having my own jewelry business because I have a lot of experience and skill.
