Carolina Amaral

"Even though I grew up surrounded by artists, I only developed a personal interest in art as an adult. In adulthood, I began to feel a fascination for that indescribable universe, especially through the works of celebrated artists such as Mondrian, Miró, Kandinsky, and Tarsila do Amaral, who now influence my work.

"Parallel to my formation in Fine Arts I took a class in enameled ceramics. I began by making candleholders and sculptures, and eventually I arrived at jewelry. I make my pieces from ceramic and from a constant search for colorful variations. I also incorporate natural materials such as leather and bamboo.

"Other than administering classrooms for exceptionally-gifted children, I have been developing television and theater partnerships to provide accessories for characters in different programs, soap operas, and stage productions.

"I am happy to be able to exhibit my work through Novica, so that it may be appreciated by jewelry-lovers around the world."
