"Hello, my name is Anu Pachisia, born and raised in Delhi. I grew up in an extended family environment. We lived with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, since it is a traditional custom in India. Naturally, there were lots of kids around to play with, yet our parents never let us forget the family values and the culture we come from.
"While in school, I did a lot of painting and creative work. I often fantasized about becoming a designer. My plan was to study design after my Masters in Business. During that time, my brother had become established in the garment export industry, so I went to work with him right after finishing my Masters. Everything happened so suddenly, my dream of becoming a designer remained unfulfilled. I worked for my brother for two years, and during this time I enrolled in a gemology course, because I had always had a keen interest in the colors and sparkles of the different stones. It was worth it.
"After my short stint in the export business, I got married and had my children. However, my love for gems and jewelry was too hard to resist. So, though I wasn't a professional designer, I began designing my own jewelry along with my cousins and friends. Everyone appreciated my work. Then one day I happened to chance upon a European woman who was looking for a jewelry designer. I showed her some of my work and she really like them. She encouraged me to take up jewelry design in a more formal, professional way rather than as a hobby. My first collection came out at the beginning of 2005 – I was so thrilled!
"I think the most important thing about your work is that you should be satisfied with it. I love my work and I am enjoying every bit of it. Every day brings a new experience, a new design, a new creation and a new inspiration. I just couldn't have asked for more. Everyone has been supportive, my husband, my family and all my friends. I hope Novica customers also appreciate my work."
