"My name is Rosa Maria Andrade. I am a self-taught artist and I have always been involved in one art form or another since I was a child. I think all Peruvians are born artists. In my case, I have always been dexterous with my hands, an ability I think my brothers and I inherited from our mother. This is a beautiful family legacy to have!
"Since 2000, I have been working on designs that have a clear pre-Hispanic influence. I am moved by a desire of self-accomplishment as well as an interest in spreading our cultural heritage. I would like for everyone to see the beauty of a piece, which sometimes we take for granted until someone else points out to us.
"I channeled my talent towards jewelry design, and that's when I got together with my dearest friend, who is of great support to me. We've been able to overcome hardships together and make a name for ourselves in the world of jewelry."
"I am Norka Silva de Moron, and I have always enjoyed jewelry and gems, so I began to learn more about them. I started teaching too, and that helped me to refine my style and perfect my techniques.
"I enjoy working with gemstones but there were times when I didn't have time for it. Then I met Rosa Maria and we realized we shared a lot of ideas, so we decided to travel down this path together.
"We both have the patience that is required to look into every artistic detail. We are very dedicated to the type of hand-crafted work that we do.
"My motivation comes from a desire to highlight the beauty of Peruvian gemstones. I want to reach a point where I can feel my work is stable enough so I can spend more time looking after my son, as well as our jewelry.
"To us, jewelry is an art. It is just like when you admire a painting in a gallery, which is why it is so fascinating to see a person wearing a beautiful jewelry item.
"To all Novica clients, we feel very proud that people from around the world can admire the historical legacy we inherited from our predecessors. Every time you hold one of our jewelry creations, we hope you feel the natural beauty of our gems and metals, for they carry a part of us and of our ancient Peru."
