Lalchand

"Hello, my name is Lalchand Soni, and I was born on February 9, 1973. My family has had a long and binding tie with India's traditional arts and crafts, and this is what has inspired and brought me thus far.

"I have been making jewelry for the last 15 years. My designs include mainly traditional silver and gold jewelries. I also incorporate colorful meenakari (floral enamel work from northern India) to my creations.

"We are five bothers, and each one is into the fascinating realm of art and crafts. One of my elder brothers delves in painting and the rest of us are professional jewelers. I have always been fascinated by the color and richness of traditional jewelries. It was a part of our life. I grew up around jewelers, since all my uncles were jewelry designers and silversmiths.

"I have participated in various exhibitions in and around Jaipur, and the response has been tremendous. One day soon I hope to accomplish my dream, and become one of the best jewelers around."
