Mia

Born in Belgium in 1959, Mia grew up in a small village near the French-Belgium border. "I consider myself a child of nature, I so enjoyed playing in the fields and forests," comments Mia. "After working as a teacher and later for a graphic design company, my husband and I decided it was time to change our busy lifestyles for a less stressful way of living. Asia inspired us, particularly the way of living in South-East Asia.

"We migrated to Indonesia in 1996. I was so excited by the high level of craftwork of the Balinese silversmiths, that I started designing my own jewelry pieces. Nature's beauty inspires my work. My designs have changed throughout the years. I started with classic styles, and now I design Western and modern contemporary pieces of art.

"My modern designs are mainly pure and simple. Next to silver, gemstones and pearls are the materials I most frequently use. I am happy designing, and I have found a select group of highly qualified Balinese silversmiths who help me craft each piece."
