"I feel proud that I've found my own expression in our family's art."
"It's wonderful when people can appreciate our ancestral art legacy through different kinds of jewelry. I find inspiration in our Andean culture. But I identify most with rescuing our ancient heritage and am glad that I can add something to this process.
"I was born May 3, 1990 in Lima. I'm the oldest child in my family and I have three brothers.
"My parents have worked with jewelry since I was a little girl and, little by little, I became involved in our workshop. They taught me that I can express art and creativity in each piece of jewelry I craft. Thanks to them, I now create my own designs and I feel proud that I've found my own expression in our family's art.
"When I was 15, I started going to art fairs with my mother. I saw that her work was highly prized, especially by visitors to Peru, and that's when I decided to work with her and my father. I wanted to learn the crafting processes. Because I was still studying, I realized I could complement my designs with our cultural identity and rich history.
"My jewelry designs are unique and very well made, and I'm happy to be able to show them to you."
Chrysocolla's blue green mystique encloses the beauty of Peru's lakes and forests. Set in gleaming silver arcs, oval cabochon stones are showcased in a necklace and earrings. Tiberio Gonzáles and his family craft this serenely modern design.
Peacocks pose and preen, their rich blue feathers fashioned of chrysocolla. Set in sterling silver, the birds become a jewelry set. Claudia Llaury creates a beautiful necklace on a cotton cord and matching earrings.
"Nature inspired this original design," Sandra and Lily confide. Three polished petals of chrysocolla surround a sparkling cubic zirconium. A silver chain completes the necklace, while single petals become matching earrings.
