Maricarmen and Gisella

"I'm Maria del Carmen Barreto Diaz, born 13 July 1979. Friends and family call me Maricarmen, so I use it as my artistic name. To me, what I do is unique and every detail is instilled with good quality. The natural beauty of gemstones is what brought me to this world of jewelry, and with every design I intend to transmit my emotions and perceptions.

"One of the biggest challenges I've had to face was to go abroad and live away from my family and friends. Overall it was a good experience and I learnt so much from it. When I was away I realized that our jewelries were widely accepted so I thought about starting a little venture of my own.

"By the time I returned to Lima I realized this was something I really wanted to know more about and thus take it to a more intense level, where each piece becomes a part of me. Each jewelry item is crafted with dedication and expresses something about us."

"I'm Gisella Bazalar Luis, and I was born 2 May, 1980. Maricarmen and I met when we were teenagers, and we have been good friends ever since. We studied together and we went to the same university to study Business Administration. Then Maricarmen left for the United States for a while, but we got back together when she returned with a proposal of doing something. That's how we forged our future and our horizon.

"We wished with all our heart to be able to do what we really feel good about doing, and every design expresses these sentiments. Nature is our constant muse.

"The greatest challenge I have had to face was loosing my father at a young age and learning to live without his support and advice. I soon learnt to value family more, as well as good friends."
