"I always strive to create 'clean' designs with organic forms… simple, uncluttered curves… a style and a language."
"I began studying jewelry with Márcio Mattar in 1981. He was one of Brazil's pioneers in jewelry design and taught his students that the creation of the piece was principally a personal expression and that, more than a simple adornment, jewelry was essentially sculpture.
"I worked up to 1986 mainly with jewels in gold, and exhibited my work in renowned art galleries. From 1986 to 1990, with Márcio Mattar, I established an art center, with courses on the creation and execution of jewels along with an art gallery.
"I always strive to create 'clean' designs with organic forms, that is, with nothing geometric but simple, uncluttered curves. At the same time, I developed utilitarian objects in such diverse materials as granite, bronze, crystal and recently, resin. If we put these works side by side – jewelry, glass, photo frames – although their materials are different, we can identify a style and a language.
"From 1998 on, due to Brazil's economic situation it became quite difficult to sell gold jewelry. It became necessary to dedicate myself more to my line of decorative pieces. Resin, which requires the same care as a sculpture, never used immediate forms. I like to create a marble effect, or transparent color; each piece receives individual treatment.
"Showing my work with Novica is like opening a thousand doors and windows at the same time, and is very stimulating. The more the artist reaches out to the public, the more he is reinvigorated, finding an incentive for his creativity."
I searched for years to find a beautiful, unique amethyst ring and with Silvia Lima's ""The Look of Luck"" I found it! It's not cookie cutter jewelry. Instead, it's sculpture for the hand. As an added bonus, the ring is the perfect symbol for celebrating ten years of marriage.
I just received my beautiful resin plate that Silvia made and I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with it. I love unusual, modern pieces and am so drawn in by the colors! Thank you so much...from start to finish for a wonderful purchase.
I was searching for a pendant for my wife's white gold necklace and most of the nice stuff I was finding on the internet was yellow gold. I came across Novica through a Google search and began browsing in India looking at some Australian Opal pendants but couldn't really find an item (although beautiful) for my wife's tastes (clean and understated, yet elegant). I then came across Silvia Lima's (Brazil) Aquamarine pendant, 'Sea Wave'. It was perfect. Elegant, clean and the perfect size and color. I ordered it as soon as I saw it and it arrived in around 10 days through DSL. She loves it and wears it all the time. It's much more durable than I thought it would be. I also like the fact that it's a unique piece of artwork and it can't be found in a mall or jewelry store. In my case, I definately would order from Novica again. It reassures me that they are alligned with National Geographic. I didn't use standard shipping because I wanted a tracking number and I'm not sure how reliable the mail is in certain countries. I would recommend one of the priority shipping methods. I used the least expensive method and had no problems plus it gave me peace of mind to know that my order would arrive in time for Christmas. Adios and Gracias! Tim Sampson Chicago, IL, USA

FINDING YOUR SIZE
Take your measurements with the tape measure over your under garments. If your measurements fall between sizes you may prefer the next larger size. Inseam, skirt and dress lengths vary by style and will be listed in the item description. Our sweaters are knit in standard American sizes, however actual measurements vary by style.
BUST / CHEST
Measure around the fullest part of chest under the arms and over the shoulder blades keeping the tape measure level.
Measure around the smallest part of the waist keeping the tape measure comfortably loose. Most garments use the low waist measurement noted below.
Measure around the body approximately 1.5" below the natural waist (above). This is the area where most pants and skirts actually fit.
Standing with your heels together, measure around the fullest part of the body approx 7"-8" below the waist.
Measure around the base of the neck keeping the tape measure comfortably loose.
Bend elbow slightly and starting at the center back of the neck, measure across the shoulder, to the elbow and down to the wrist.
Our standard inseam length for women is 32" and 34" for men; however inseam measurements will vary slightly by style.
