"My name is Véronique Fargeaudoux and I was born in April 15, 1969. I studied History of Art and Jewelry at Beaux Arts (meaning "Beautiful Arts") in Limoges, France. My studies led to a desire for traveling. I wanted to go beyond the books in order to feel, see and experience the art of different cultures. This desire led me to live in Spain, the Middle East, Thailand, and Singapore. It gave me a great sense of the world, as well as an appreciation of the diversity and the differences in art even more.
"When I was 22 years old, I made the costumes and jewelry for Fura del Baus theater in Barcelona, Spain. Years later in Dubai, I opened an art gallery to exhibit traditional Vietnamese art from the people from Saigon. That's when I fell in love with Asia. In Thailand, I really started creating things myself. I started with their beautiful silks, then on to jewelry with silver and semi-precious stones. While in Singapore, I bought beautiful stones from Bali and made necklaces for my friends.
"My love affair with India began when I was 25. The artistic and cultural versatility of Rajasthan and Agra was unlike any other city. I kept on coming back until I finally decided to stay for good. The stones from Jaipur are mesmerizing. I felt compelled to communicate my experience through my desgins, featuring the beauty of Indian gemstones. The textiles are also wonderful to the touch and sight.
"I really enjoy what I do. My jewelry designs are influenced by all the beauty around me: the country's history, nature, the people I meet, the monuments, and the colors. I hope people will appreciate my work, and the mixture of tradition and modernity, of East and West. It is nothing but a reflection of our history. It is a result of each stone's history and the inspiration and ideas coming from it.
"My clothes collections have been sold in Mauritius, St. Tropez, Bali, and Singapore. This September I plan to do an exhibition in Paris' infamous Prêt-à-Porter. I love interacting with people and the United States might be the only place I haven't explored. Somehow I'd like to touch people there with my work. Through Novica, I hope to connect with another part of the world and transmit my experience of Asia's beauty, which is reflected in all my creations."
