María Elena García Rodríguez was born in Filisterra La Coruña, Spain on February 19, 1944. When she was 11 years old, her parents' work took the family to Peru, and they settled there permanently. Maria Elena has always been fascinated with Andean gems.
Born in Lima on August 4, 1950, María Teresa Chávez Rivera is a close friend. "One day I happened by a café where María Teresa was, and we began to talk," María Elena recalls. "We were both feeling the need to do something really satisfying, and we decided to work together in jewelry."
María Teresa is very creative, and enjoys combining colors. "I get excited when I'm designing; I feel caught up between the silver and the gemstones," she confides. Both women exchange ideas and develop their pieces together. The designers rely on skilled artisans to assist them in crafting finely finished jewelry.
"If I could, I'd show the entire world how a jewelry design is developed, from its incredible inception to its final creation," María Elena says. Both are happy to showcase their work through Novica. "Entering the pages of Novica is entering a world of art where everything has its own story. Thank you for joining us."
