Jessica Arce

Jessica Arce was born in Lima in 1972 into a family linked with the arts. Her grandfather was a cellist and her uncle a renowned poet, and it was natural for her to find inspiration in art.

After finishing high school, she wanted to major in art but her parents urged her to study for a professional degree. So Arce graduated from the Universidad Ricardo Palma where she majored in industrial engineering. At the same time, she took private classes in jewelry making while studying painting in the School of Fine Arts.

Arce's family develops communications and transportation studies in rural zones. Jessica is their administrator and, as such, she has visited areas of extreme poverty. As a result, she decided to join the Asociación de Doctores Bolaroja, inspired by Doctor Patch Adams. Disguised as a clown, Arce becomes "Doctor Vanilla" and shares her own joy with people who are depressed by their illness. Her humor helps them rediscover a will to live.

Arce's own joyous personality led her to put her jewelry crafting skills into practice. Little by little, friends and family began requesting her designs. Eventually she began to place them in local shops and boutiques. Today she is very happy to offer them to the whole world. "I'd like my jewelry to awaken a passion for life and help rescue the happiness of the child we all have inside. And I'd hope we could share our joy with everyone who crosses our path," she confides.
