Designer Maritza Fabris was born on December 19, 1955. "My first career was structural engineering [practiced for 13 years]," she says. "My second was fashion design, which I did for eight years and today, jewelry design - especially in silver with precious stones. My creative and artistic tendencies come from my mother's side of the family. My mother and grandmother were designers, and they created decorative and fashion wares while they honed their business aptitudes."
Fabris has dedicated her efforts to silverwork since 1999. "This activity brings me great satisfaction. On one hand is my work in developing each one of my products, and on the other is their merchandising to place them in the international market. And this causes me to create new designs."
Motivated by her work, Fabris channels her ideas into products that are beautiful and useful. She employs the enormous creative richness of Peru's pre-Hispanic tradition and the colonial art of silversmithing in her Qapuri Peru line of jewelry. She also works with artisans of Andean origin.
"In each of my creations I express my innovative and restless spirit, always in motion. I try to capture the many ideas that arise inside me and work with them, give them form as silver jewelry. Later I develop the design and finally achieve the final product – one that meets the strict requirements of national and international markets. I especially like silver – prized for its beauty and sheen – and combine it with fine gemstones from South America and other continents as well as with other materials.
"As a goal, taking my products to the international market has been one of my best achievements as a businesswoman, along with the creation of my Qapuri Peru products. To my Novica clients, I'd like to say that it is very nice to know you like my creations. This provides a stimulus to continue seeking innovative designs."
