"Hello friends, I am Pradeep and I was born in Delhi. My fun-filled childhood was spent in a beautiful hill station in Uttranchal, where I did my schooling.
"After graduating, I pursued further studies in journalism. Somehow, I was always keen on Indian art and culture, and this helped me learn more about it from the National Museum Institute in New Delhi. I also had the opportunity to attend studies in Ecology and Spirituality at Devon's Schumacher College in the United Kingdom. It was a good experience.
"With my keen interest in the arts, I was lucky to get in touch with the Enamellist Society of India. And this got me into my profession. Here I found supportive teachers and a creative learning environment. I have been learning the craft through my teachers Veenu Shah and Kana Lamror.
"I find my work extremely creative and satisfying, involving a high degree of spontaneous innovation and execution. The basic materials are copper, silver and a wide range of enamels. I try and incorporate designs of the hill station into my work. I am enjoying very bit of my craft. The uniqueness of the medium is that no two designs come out alike and this is the beauty of the art – it inspires me to do more.
"I am currently taking this craft to the Uttranchal hills to teach interested women. They will be helped to integrate traditional hill motifs and symbols into this craft form. In days to come, I would like to become involved in small, creative, ecologically-sensitive projects and activities with like minded and interested people around the world and also take part in cross cultural exchanges.
"I have exhibited my designs in New Delhi in 2005 and 2006.
"I think Novica's idea is really great. It helps individuals like me reach out to people worldwide and also appreciate shopper's divergent interests. It feels really nice to get to know you all through the Internet. I hope my designs give you the same pleasure and excitement that I have felt in crafting them."
