Putu Sutarka

"I was born July 14, 1972 in Karangasem, Bali. I come from a family of farmers and though I could attend primary school, I had to leave high school in my second year. Those were hard times and my family was not able to support me, so I left my village to look for work. Fortunately, I found a job in a company that designs and produces products in iron and stained glass. That was my first contact with designing, and with materials such as iron and steel.

"After working there for two years I moved to an area favored by tourists. There I found the woman who would become my wife. Today we have a lovely boy who is four years old, and my main objective is that he gets a better education than the one I got. When I met my wife, she was working in jewelry with Mr. John Price Anderson, the person who taught me everything about jewelry making. He still helps me a lot in the designs, although I like to keep myself updated with fashion magazines so I can follow the new tendencies and create constantly. I hope Novica customers can appreciate our art. It has the work of a great time behind it."
