Paty Dedios

"I was born on February 11 in the city of Lima, where I grew up with my parents. I was always a good student and I excelled in the arts. I took as many courses as I found, and I learned my passion was in things I could develop with my own initiative. I especially liked jewelry in all its forms. In 2004, I began studying jewelry and began making my own accessories and designs. That's when I decided this would be my life's work.

"It's not easy to take that first step, though, and give your whole effort to just one thing. There were moments when I thought I'd never get anywhere with my art. At the beginning, I made my own jewelry for friends and family. When I saw they liked my designs, I decided I would do this art that I totally love.

"At home, I'm always designing jewelry. I also love volleyball, even though I haven't played for some time.

"Few people get to work at what they love, what they were born to do. I combine techniques from knitting and crochet with the art of silverwork. My art is the way I express my emotions. I tend to create different jewelry designs depending on my mood and how I feel. My motivation comes from my family, but I also want to get ahead in the field I chose. It was a challenge I accepted and the art I live for. Many times, art isn't recognized and people don't appreciate it as it deserves."
