Hector de los Rios

A psychologist by profession, Héctor de los Ríos was born December 29, 1951. He worked as a banker for 20 years, where his intelligence and friendliness helped him advance in his career. Because of his good taste, friends recommended he try his hand at jewelry design, so in 1985 he began taking private classes. Eight years later, he opened his own workshop.

Because he loves his art, De los Ríos takes special care that every step of the process is done properly, beginning with the melting of the silver alloys. Thus he assures the quality of his works. He himself has trained the jewelers who assist him, and has received recognition from the Patronato de Plata del Perú for quality and design.

De los Ríos designs each piece of jewelry produced in his workshop. His style is contemporary and he works in silver from 0.925 to 0.970 rating as well as in 18 karat gold. "A design can come to mind at any time," he confides. "Sometimes I'll get up at 3 a.m. to sketch an idea. My work is an art in which I can create anything I can imagine, and see it become reality in a piece of jewelry."
