"I come from the land of eternal spring. Growing up, my parents constantly took me to see the most beautiful places in Guatemala, and ever since then I've been deeply in love with my country's colors, landscapes and culture.

"I've been from the magnificent Agua volcano enveloped by the sky's blue embrace, to the dark depths of the Lankin caves. All of these trips and experiences have taught me to appreciate the magic and beauty of my surroundings.

"I became interested in the history of my ancestors as I began to grow up. I read all that I could find and thanks to these books I learned a lot. The Maya were amazing astronomers who left us great riches and cultural treasures that have inspired me to craft different items to represent their major events, their deities, and their stories. With every piece I create I try to capture details that may help us understand and admire the culture, mysticism and knowledge of our ancestors.

"I've loved Guatemalan handcrafts and tourism ever since I was a little girl, and so my mother and I decided to craft our own. We began crafting simple items and from there we've been perfecting our techniques and making more elaborate designs that honor Maya heritage.

"I relate my art to the colors, textures, history and culture of Guatemala. They each have meaning ingrained in Maya culture. I start by sketching and drafting each new design, giving each color, shape and materials a different meaning. Then I test them and try them out until I am happy with the final product.

"I would like to thank Novica customers for appreciating my work – I constantly strive to craft original pieces that are not only beautiful, but also represent the richness of Maya history and culture. It is my great pleasure to show you my work through this medium, so I would like to thank Novica for sharing with us the opportunity to promote the work of artisans such as me through the internet."
